Three friends – Gera, Thiago and an unidentified boy were chilling and drinking beer outside a gas station in Recife, Pernambuco State, Brazil, when they were approached by a man known only as Didi, with whom they used to be friends. Didi got into argument with the three over a scratch on his motorcycle.
Didi blamed Gera for the damage to his motorcycle and got aggressive while expressing his anger. After some physical contact involving pushing, to which none of the three friends responded in kind, Didi pulled out a gun and shot Gera at close range. He continued to shoot even after the victim collapsed helplessly to the ground.
As Gera was dying, Didi prepared to put on his helmet and get on the motorcycle, but was interrupted by incoming fire from a policeman who ran to see what was going on when he overheard the gunfire.
Gera was still alive when medics arrived, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to save his life. The other two victims who were also shot were taken to nearby health facilities and are said to be recovering.
