Tuesday, 18th of November, 2014, at a restaurant in the city of Floriano, state of Piauí, Brazil, two men on a motorcycle pulled up and walked inside. The men, still wearing their helmets, announced that this was a robbery and proceeded to take money and belongings from the patrons inside. At least one of the men was armed with a knife which he used to intimidate the people. Suddenly, one of the men collapsed, having been shot through the neck by an unidentified person who then fled the restaurant as well as the remaining bandit. The dead man had no identification on him and the other assailant has not been identified, either. Witnesses could not or would not describe the person who had saved them and they took their belongings back. So, his friend was killed and he ended up with nothing to show for it. Great fucking plan.
The thing with robbing or fighting a total stranger is that you never know exactly what they are capable of doing; not to mention if you attack someone with a knife they might very well be packing, making your little knife obsolete. In America, it is the right of citizens to possess and carry firearms. I don’t consider myself a gun snackbar but I damn sure support the gun. If you had a population where 90 percent of people were carrying, there would be a lot less violent crimes in my opinion. Fear is the motivating factor in a car jacking, attempted rape or in this case, robbery. If a criminal knows before he does anything that he has just as much a chance of being fatally injured as his victim, he will think twice before acting. Predators do not actively hunt predators. Whereas, if you act like a victim or target, you very well will be.
