On November 17, 2014, an apparent workplace accident shocked the residents of Itajaí, 94 km from Florianopolis, in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
A 42 year old businessman died after falling from the 10th floor of a building. The victim, identified as Flavio Lupércio Wolff, was on the balcony of his apartment, replacing a bulb, and it appears that he was either hit by an electric shock, or lost his balance while reaching up from a stool. Or maybe both.
The businessman fell 10 storeys onto a paved road in front of the building where he lived. His fatal landing was caught on a CCTV camera.
The Civil Police found that Flavio Lupércio Wolff was alone in his apartment when he fell. Inside they found several tools, indicating that the victm was making home repairs. It would appear that he was standing with one foot on a stool, and the other on the balcony railing.
Notice that there was a motorcyclist slowing down and pulling into one of available parking stalls when the victim fell. The motorcyclist chose to park in the stall further down, avoiding having a grown man fall on his head by only a few feet. If he opted to park in the first available stall closest to him, he would have just got there in time for the victim to land on him. There would have been two dead bodies on the road if that was the case.
