Corpse of Man Found Slashed Up All Over with Large Knife

Corpse of a man was found slashed up all over in the Industrial District II, South Zone of Manaus, state of Amazonas, Brazil. Manaus, with its new football stadium Arena da Amazônia, Manaus is a host city for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The victim, identified only as Antônio, was found dead with more than 15 perforations caused by a large knife. As if hacking him with a machete sized knife to the neck, head, chest, arms and legs was not bad enough, the killers also beat his face to a pulp with a concrete pole. Both the pole and the machete were left at the murder scene by the killers.

Police investigation revealed that three men attacked the victim with an intention to steal his chickens. They attacked him while he was preparing to listen to the radio broadcast of the World Cup football match between Spain and Chile.

The victim’s cousin reportedly witnessed the murder but did not come to the victim’s aid because he feared the killers would also murder him. The attackers, he said, dragged the victim out of the house where they beat and hacked him to death for 10 minutes.

The attack appear to have been premeditated as it is believed the killers were watching the victim for some time.
