I always wondered if certain people are born with a predisposition to commit crimes, be complicit, unresponsive, or if these behaviors develop depending on the society and environment they grow up in. Maybe it’s a combination of those two factors. Genetics, and social conditions. Sometimes those behaviors are spontaneous and unrelated to the causes I mentioned. But I can’t help but ask myself how I would react if I suddenly went to a third world nation and was forced to live their reality and was faced with unexpected situations. Would I respond in the way the locals do, or would I act in a complete opposite way?
I just find it incomprehensible how in some parts of the world people respond right away, even putting their lives in jeopardy, to act in a benevolent manner towards each other, while in other parts they remain completely apathetic. This creates a paradox I cannot simmer. I can only hope that after expanding my travels I can draw unambiguous conclusions regarding all the aforementioned questions. Or at least have a different insight of human nature.
A woman by the name of Rosilda Maria da Silva (the Da Silva surname appears to attract a lot of death) was hit by a Nissan SUV on the Luiz Portela de Carvalho BR 101 avenue, near the city of Palmares – Pernambuco (you guessed it, Brazil).
A good crowd of Flip-Floppers gathered around the lady, took pictures and sent them to their friends, but did they bother to call an ambulance? Nah… A police vehicle happened to pass by the accident scene a while later, contacting further emergency personnel. Obviously the woman had already passed away.
Ms. Da Silva was hit while crossing the road where she wasn’t supposed to, so the SUV, traveling at a substantial speed, hit her with quite a punch. I’m surprised legs and arms didn’t went flying off into someone’s home. The SUV suffered some damage, the repair on that thing probably wasn’t cheap, but I gotta say that given the violence of the impact it appears to be in a reasonably good shape. Nissan is a good car brand and Japanese vehicles are overall known for their good engines and durability. I wouldn’t trade my Toyota for any other car.
