I didn’t understand any part of what the reporter said, but I believe the paraglider died. He had a good take off and goofed off for a bit, but then the goofing progressed into a mess up and a hard fall with a slam to the ground. The paraglider was in a freefall for some 50 meters. That could definitely be fatal.
I don’t have any experience paragliding so I couldn’t tell you if there was any chance for him to control the collapsed parachute. He may not have had enough time to fix it, though. The accident happened in Brazil.
