A man was caught stealing in Brazil, and the community decided to administer punishment right there on the spot. At gunpoint, the thief was forced to lay his hand on a stack of bricks and volunteer for having his fingers chopped off with a hatchet.
The first chop severed two of his fingers, but the community did not deem that severe enough and forced him to endure additional chops. Two more were needed to severe all but a thumb of his right hand.
