A serious traffic accident occurred on the infamous BR-101 highway, near Conceição da Barra in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. A bus loaded with 50 passengers on board collided with a semi truck. Additional two passenger vehicles and a smaller truck were also involved. When all was said and done, 10 people were dead and 30 seriously injured.
Drivers of the bus and the semi died on the spot, as did 7 other people. One more died later in the Hospital de São Mateus.
According to police, Chevrolet Celta attempted to pass the bus, but crashed into it and forced it to invade the oncoming lane where it ran head on into the semi. The impact ejected some of the bus passengers on the road where they were subsequently run over by a truck that drove behind the bus. Celta was sandwiched between the bus and the semi. A Volkswagen Voyage was also dragged into the mess.
The bus carried employees of a coffee plantation. It was packed full with all of the seats takens and some people standing.
A cameraman filmed the carnage but did an awful job and held his camera sideways.
