This is a strange one. 45 year old farmer Juraci Freitas de Monteiro took his own life on Wednesday the 25th of September 2013 by throwing himself against V shaped branches and suffocating to death, in Água Branca, Paraíba – Brazil. According to the coroner he was almost rendered unconscious by the force of the landing (I have no idea how he managed to do that), and any efforts he made to get out would have been futile, since he would have been dizzy and suffocation soon followed.
Mr. Monteiro told a friend that very same day that he was about to commit suicide, and asked him to speak to his family on his behalf. He told his friend “I’m gonna do what my friend Tiago did, I’m gonna die in the wilderness”, and so he did.
After receiving the information that he had suicidal intentions, his family contacted the police who went in search of him, however, being too late.
The body was found by a police dog. The police deputy had this to say “He didn’t use any rope and apparently threw himself against the tree’s branches with great force. I have never seen a suicide like this.”.
Not very often do we see one quite like this. People’s imagination never ceases to amaze me.
