Woman Dragged Behind Police Car in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This is pretty messed up and hopefully the cops who did this to the woman will be held responsible.

The incident happened on Sunday March 16, 2014 at around 9am in the north end of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A police car was filmed dragging a woman attached to the bumper by a piece of her clothing. The police changed lanes and passed other vehicles despite pedestrians and motorists yelling and signaling to them that they had a human being in tow. The only reason they eventually stopped was because there was a line of vehicles on the lights.

According to the report filed by police, 38 year old Claudia Silva Ferreira had been shot during an exchange of gunfire between officers of the 9th BPM (Rocha Miranda) and alleged drug dealers from Morro da Congonha in Madureira. Wounded in the neck and in the back, she was still alive so the officers took her to a hospital where she succumbed. No word of them having dragged her behind their car in the report.

Her 18 year old daughter Thaís Silva said the last she saw of her mother was when officers shoved her in the back of their truck like she was a piece of meat and drove away with gate still open. Then when she saw her mangled dead body in the hospital, she suspected there was more to her wounds than just the shootout the police said was the sole cause of her death. And then the video surfaced…

Mother of four Claudia Silva Ferreira worked in the Hospital Naval Marcílio Dias in Lins and was married to 41 year old Alexandre Fernandes da Silva. In September of this year, they would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
